TIFF weekend in a nutshell

So in a nutshell this is how the Buffalo State trip to TIFF went:

We all loaded onto the bus around 8am and off we went! 2 hours later (we made great time!) we were unloading at the Fairmont Royal York. Some rooms weren't quite ready yet so while some checked into their rooms others checked their bags in. We all met downstairs at a little deli where we ate some food and split into 3 groups for our 3 films: The Conviction, Boxing Gym & Force of Nature: The David Suzuski Movie. Each group set up a place and time to meet and then we all went on our separate ways to either check in or explore around the city.

After the films we all met at Jack Astor's across the street for dinner. The atmosphere was great and it was a great experience to meet everyone.

After Jack Astor's we headed over to the premiere of The Town. It was an absolute madhouse of amazing-ness! It was so crowded and everyone was screaming and chanting. One of the faculty, Jeff Hirschberg, got a great picture of Jennifer Garner.

The next day we met in the lobby and split into another 3 groups for the 3 movies of the day: The Illusionist, How To Start Your Own Country & Late Autumn. Several things were going on that day such as the opening of the TIFF Bell Lightbox, the official TIFF building, the premiere of Woody Allen's movie You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger, and the premiere of 127 Hours.

My group went to see the the Lightbox. What an amazing building! I, personally, did not get a chance to go inside but from other accounts and pictures it is just an absolutely beautiful piece of architecture!

After all this we met at Joe Badali's for another amazing meal and even more amazing conversations and connections. At dinner we split into 4 groups this time for the 4 films we had in the morning: Super!, Never Let Me Go, The Trip & Outside the Law.

It was an early and sad morning on Monday. As each person from a group left their hotel room it got emptier and emptier. As happy as we were to be headed home no one wanted to leave this amazing festival behind.

No one will forget this experience for the rest of their lives. Buffalo State College has indeed given us the opportunity of a lifetime and we thank them immensely for it!

Till Next Time...
